This Bundoora music studio was built for a semi-professional musician who needed soundproofing without the expense of a commercial studio fit-out. The 12sqm pod sits at the rear of the property — far enough from neighbours to minimise complaints, with acoustic treatment that keeps drum practice contained.

Sound Management
The pod uses a room-within-room approach for sound isolation. Double-layer plasterboard on resilient channels reduces transmission through walls. The client added acoustic foam panels post-handover for internal treatment. Result: drum practice at reasonable volumes without neighbour complaints.
Note: this isn’t a professional recording studio — it won’t achieve STC 60+ ratings without significant additional investment. For home practice and amateur recording, the combination of distance from boundaries, double glazing, and insulated walls provides adequate sound reduction.
